  • Signature VRC Harness Lead

    $30.00

These amazing leads were designed by Harness Lead specifically for Tia!

They're the only harnesses we use at VRC. If you've ever volunteered to walk dogs with us, you have probably already used one!

Harness Lead is a leash and harness in one that reduces pulling on most and is 100% escape proof. It is made of double braided nylon and has a strength of 4,000 lbs. Each Harness Lead is adorned with the VRC logo and is a blend of New Orleans classic Mardi Gras colors (purple, green, yellow). Hand crafted in the USA!
Harness Lead must be used properly, according to instructions, to be escape proof. It is not to be used for tie out unattended. Harness Lead is NOT CHEW PROOF.

Instructional videos are available at: http://www.harnesslead.com/how-to-use.html

Small/Medium 14lbs to 40lbs (can scale smaller than 14lbs, but looks best on 14 and up)
(3/8 diameter. Leash length on a 25/30lb dog is 6 ft from back to handle.)

Medium/Large best for 40lbs to 200lbs (can scale smaller than 40lbs, but leash will be long)
(7/16 diameter. Leash length on a 60/70 lb dog is 6 ft from back to handle.)

    PLEASE READ PRIOR TO PURCHASE:
Harness Lead is made in a loose weave in order to be soft and comfortable on the dog. Because of the loose weave, it can be prone to snags from a dog's tooth, tree branch, etc...
If we make the leash in a very tight weave so a snag will not occur, it will be rough on the dog's skin.
A snag does not mean the leash in unraveling and it will not affect the very complicated double braided construction.
Over time as the leash ages a bit, snags will no longer occur.
Even if you simply just snip the snag, it will be fine and not come apart due to the complicated weave in the leash.

Harness Lead is designed to be used as a GENTLE walking tool by utilizing a dog's OWN pressure against the leash to encourage and remind him to slow down his pace.

Harness Lead works best in a gentle manner along with positive encouragement and praise from the handler. Relax the leash and let the dog's pressure be the only pressure against the leash.

*Harness Lead is NOT to be used to tie dog out unattended, it is NOT CHEW PROOF. DO NOT LEAVE HL ON THE DOG UNATTENDED. Do not use to have dog tow weight. Harness Lead is not to be used in a negative manner where the dog is jerked, yanked or "corrected" or where dominance, intimidation and/or force is being applied. This advice is not specific to Harness Lead but with any dog walking product. If you choose to use these or other negative actions toward dogs we prefer you do not purchase or use this product.

Please note: Harness Lead is a WALKING TOOL and is not to be used for RUNNING with the dog. The reason is Harness Lead tightens as the dog pulls and the dog can control this by reducing his pull. If you are running with the dog in Harness Lead it will stay tight and the dog will not be able to control the tightening aspect of the leash. For running it is recommended to use a traditional, non-tightening harness.
